Captain Dunstan Vella extends Floriana contract

Floriana have taken an early step in shaping their squad for the 2026/2027 season, confirming the contract extension of captain Dunstan Vella.

The announcement arrives at a crucial stage of the current campaign, with Floriana locked in a tight Malta Premier League title race alongside Ħamrun Spartans, as the decisive Closing Round Top Six phase gets underway this weekend.

In a statement published on social media, the club highlighted Vella’s continued importance to the side.

“Team captain and an influential presence in midfield, Dunstan continues to play a vital role in leading the team’s performances, setting the standard both on and off the pitch.”

The 29-year-old has been a consistent figure this season, making 34 appearances while contributing two goals and two assists.

Floriana have also secured further continuity within the squad, extending the contracts of Tanzanian international Charles M’Mombwa and Argentine winger Federico Varela for another year.
