This highly expected match was played at the Alphamega Stadium, the home ground of the 3 biggest clubs of Limassol – Apollon, AEL and Aris.

For Aris, it was their first-ever cup final appearance, and they played their part in a final that felt more like a celebration of women’s football, with more than 2,500 fans creating a lively atmosphere.

The match exploded into life early. Apollon struck in the 4th minute, only for Aris to respond five minutes later and bring themselves level.

But Apollon gradually took control and restored their lead in the 36th minute, scoring the goal that proved decisive.

Lucia came off the bench on the 75th minute as she bolstered Apollon’s backline to make sure they secure their narrow lead.

There was late drama when Aris won a penalty in the 90th minute with the chance to force extra time, but they could not convert, and with that the cup – and the double – belonged to Apollon.
