Organised with the support of Visit Malta, SportMalta, and the Paola Local Council, this year’s tournament promises to build on the strong foundations established in previous editions while further elevating the event’s prestige on the local sporting calendar.
The tournament is open for U-12 teams and will showcase a strong mix of Maltese clubs alongside prestigious European sides, promising a high standard of competition and a unique sporting experience for local fans and visitors alike.
Hosts Hibernians will be joined by fellow Maltese sides Ħamrun Spartans, Mosta, Balzan, St Andrews and Pieta Hotspurs.
The foreign line-up includes some high-profile names such as English side Liverpool, Braga, of Portugal, Italy’s Torino, KAA Gent (Belgium), Spartak Trnava (Slovakia) and Serbia’s Partizan Belgrade.
The tournament will take place over three days, featuring group-stage matches, knockout rounds, and a closing ceremony, delivering an engaging experience for players and supporters alike.
“The involvement of Visit Malta highlights the tournament’s growing role in sports tourism, positioning Malta as an attractive destination for international football events,” the tournament organisers said in a statement.
“SportMalta continues to reinforce its commitment to developing sport at all levels, while the Paola Local Council ensures the tournament remains rooted within the local community.
“The Tony Bezzina Memorial Tournament 2026 invites all football enthusiasts, families, and members of the public to be part of this celebration of sport, community, and remembrance.”
The organisers expressed their gratitude to the tournament’s sponsors, whose continued support plays a vital role in making this event possible.
