Floriana could face familiar opponents in UEFA Champions League qualifying draw

Floriana will discover their UEFA Champions League opponents when the draw of the first qualifying round will be held on Tuesday at 2pm.

Floriana FC could face some familiar opposition when they are part of the draw of the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, which will be held at the European governing body offices in Nyon, Switzerland.

Last season, Floriana beat Marsaxlokk in the Malta Premier League Finalissima to be crowned Malta champions for the 27th time in their club history.

Their reward is a place in UEFA’s premier competition, and the Greens are excited to discover their opponents in today’s draw.

The Greens are unseeded in Group 1 and could face two teams that faced former champions Ħamrun Spartans in the European competitions last season, in Irish side Shamrock Rovers and Lincoln Red Imps, of Gibraltar.

Floriana could also be paired with KuPS Kuopio, of Finland, Latvia’s Riga FC, Larne, of Northern Ireland, and The New Saints FC, of Wales.

The draw of the UEFA Champions League first qualifying draw will be held on Tuesday at 2pm.
