Saliou Thioune returns to Ħamrun Spartans

Thioune’s signing is an added boost as they are bringing in one of the forwards that propelled the team to an historic qualification to the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League last season.

Salio Thioune is back at Ħamrun Spartans as the Italian forward agreed terms to return with the former Malta champions.

Thioune’s signing is an added boost as they are bringing in one of the forwards that propelled the team to an historic qualification to the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League last season.

In fact, Thioune scored in both legs as Ħamrun Spartans overcame Latvian side RFS Riga to win their Play Off round tie and become the first Maltese team to play in the League Phase of a UEFA club competition.

Thioune, however, stayed with the Spartans until the January transfer window when he decided to continue his career in Belarus with ML Vitebsk and also had a spell with Naftan.

However, the nippy forward has now decided to return to Ħamrun Spartans and try and make up for the disappointment of missing out on all major honours last season.

During his spell with Ħamrun Spartans last season, Thioune made 26 appearances and scored five goals.
