Paola BC won their fifth straight Mixed Teams League title last weekend, ending the 2019-20 season with wins in all their six matches.
The club, which celebrated winning the 13th title in its history, had to go through a tough season which, just like in every other local sport, experienced its own hiatus before restarting in last month. The Malta Badminton Association called it a ‘double challenge posing both physical and mental challenges’ but praised its players for their determination to continue performing at their best.
This challenge clearly showed as the competition for the league winners was fierce, especially from fellow title challengers Luxol Badminton and Birkirkara BC Polidano Press Ltd. The side managed to achieve identical 3-2 wins against both opponents.
Mark Abela who was one of the protagonists for champions Paola praised his team’s efforts, expressing his satisfaction after helping his team secure this year’s title. However, he emphasised his goal of improving his level towards being able to compete in more international tournaments in the future.
Following this season’s end, the Malta Badminton Association congratulated the winners as well as all competing teams for the season and said they look forward to another successful season.
