Malta Under-16 international Julia Borg joins the growing number of local players taking their talents abroad as she becomes a student-athlete with the Sheffield College Basketball Academy.
The 16-year old, who played for Depiro in the Maltese leagues was also part of last year’s Malta squad for the FIBA European championships in Moldova where the small forward played valuable minutes within a side that went on to finish in sixth place.
In a post on the club’s social media, Depiro wished Borg all the best while referring to her as being “a role model on and off the court”.
Before the halting and eventual end of the 2019-20 season back in May, Depiro’s had reached the Playoffs of the Women’s League.
