Ħamrun Spartans are looking to continue to strengthen their squad as they are currently considering signing an overseas forward, the Times of Malta can reveal.
The Reds, who on Thursday played a friendly against Floriana have been very active on the transfer market as they have been looking to build a competitive squad for the new season, aided by the club’s main sponsor Joseph Portelli.
It is understood that the Spartans are looking to add more depth to their forward line, which is formed by Imanol Iriberri and Imano Iriberri, and are currently considering two foreign strikers.
In fact, the Spartans are monitoring a Nigerian forward as well as a Swiss striker who both played in the top-flight in the Switzerland championship.
Ħamrun are expected to make a decision on who to offer a contract in the coming days.
Meanwhile, on Thursday Ħamrun have fielded Spanish goalkeeper Pablo Sanchez who is currently on trial at the club.
The 24-year-old played 75 minutes in a goalless draw against Floriana. The Reds are currently evaluating the possibility of bringing a new goalkeeper in case either Bartolo or Debono are unavailable for the team’s opening fixtures of the BOV Premier League.
Ħamrun open their league campaign against Sirens.
