Maltese weightlifter Tenishia Thornton delivered a stellar performance, securing the European Union U-20 championship title on Saturday.
Thornton displayed exceptional skill, starting strong in the Snatch event, where she completed all three of her lifts with a best lift of 87kg.
This lift earned her the top spot in the rankings, narrowly edging the Belgian competitor by just one point.
Thornton’s dominance continued in the Clean & Jerk event, where she once again executed three flawless lifts.
Her best lift of 110kg in the Clean & Jerk brought her total to 257 points.
With this result, she finished 13 points ahead of the Belgian runner-up, comfortably securing the gold medal and the prestigious U-20 champion title.
