Watch: Keith Camilleri takes honours in Hillclimb championship

On Saturday, September 27, the Island Car Club organised the second round of the ICC Enemed National Hillclimb Championship.

A total of 55 competitors competed in various groups and classes with a variety of cars from Pre-War, to street legal salons and hatchbacks to pure race cars including, 3 pre-war cars, 10 classics cars and 10 single seaters.

Pre-war class was won by Ian Lawson on his Riley, Aaron Refalo, Chris Tabone and Matthias Vella won the street legal classes 3, 4 and 5 respectively. Michael Pace and Jonathan Grech won the Classic Modified and Standard classes.

Stephen Micallef topped the Group 1 class 4.

Etienne Grech and Chris Aquilina won Group 2 classes 3 and 5.

Charles Cutajar, Roswell Bugeja and David Galea took the honours in Group 3 Class 1, 2 and 3.

Joseph Cutajar prevailed in Group 4 class 3 while Mauro Portelli and Kenneth Camilleri topped the standings in Group 6 Class 1 and 2.

Ivan Paul Deidun placed first in Group 5 Class 4 and third overall of all drivers.

On the other hand, Darren Camilleri won Group 6 Class 4 and ended up second overall.

Keith Camilleri led the way in Group 5 Class 3 and finished the day first overall of all drivers, being the fastest driver on the day.

This is the second round of two that Keith Camilleri won in this Championship.

The third round of the ICC Enemed National Hillclimb Championship is set to be held on Sunday, October 11 Ġnejna, limits of Mgarr.

Unfortunately, once again this round is to be held without spectators due to COVID-19 measures.
