Valletta Izibet were crowned as BOV First Division champions on Saturday.
The Citizens came into the match against Marsaskala Fish & Fish needing just one win to seal their success in the best-out-of-three play-off series after they prevailed in the opening match 12-5 last week.
Valletta were again on top for much of Saturday’s match as they stormed into a commanding 4-1 win after the end of the first session with a brace from Keith Galea and Michele Stellini after Paul Privitera had given an early lead.
Marsaskala’s response failed to arrive in the second session as Valletta all but wrapped up the match by the halfway stage as goals from Peter Borg, Edward Aquilina, Andrea Agius gave them a commanding 7-1.
In the final two sessions, Valletta only needed to administer their advantage to stroll to a comfortable 12-5 victory.
Keith Galea finished as Valletta’s leading scorer with three goals with Stellini and Bianchi finishing with a brace.
At the end of the match, Charles Azzopardi, Executive PR and Marketing at Bank of Valletta, and Joe Caruana Curran, president of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta. presented the newly-crowned champions with their trophy.
