Former Starlites point guard Sasha Lecuyer bagged her first points of the season for her side Loughborough Riders as the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) Division1 championship restarted last week. Sasha Lecuyer, who was in the starting five of WNBL side Loughborough Riders, scored three points, grabbed four rebounds, and one assist in 18 minutes last Saturday.
This, however, was not enough as the team lost 83-98 to the Solent Kestrels in a game which turned out to be a late comeback win for the visitors.
For the 5’7 guard, this is her second season in action at the riders affiliated with Charnwood college where she is following her studies as a student-athlete.
Last season, Lecuyer saw action in the WNBL Div 1, the Women’s Elite Academy Basketball League (WEABL) and also her side’s U-18s team to gain experience playing against older players.

Loughborough now face Reading this weekend in their next fixture as they try to get their first win.

Mikela Riolo is still looking for her first points with CD Magectias but has increased her minutes last weekend on the court after having started slowly in the opening fixtures of the season.

Riolo did not manage to get on the scoreboard as the Women’s League Two side fell to a tough 75-47 loss at Ardoi on Saturday. The home side were on top thoughout the game and Magec Tias’ final touch did little to help their cause as they are now at one win and four losses this season.
Their next fixture is against Baxi Ferrol, who have won all of their first five games so far, on Saturday.
