The ENERVIT MTTK Open tournament was held on December 8 at the Malta Table Tennis Klabb training hall in Żebbuġ.
The tournament comprised two categories: Category 1 – Advanced and Adult players, and Category 2 – Junior Beginners, with Aaron Abela and Nigel Mifsud emerging as winners the respective categories.
Abela, who forms part of the MTTK team in Division 1 Malta National League, claimed the winning spot in the final match against Jurgen Scheer with the score of 2-3 (12-10 / 6-11 / 11-5 / 6-11 / 4-11).
At just 10 years of age, Mifsud faced tough opposition from players up to four years older than himself in the junior category. This did not affect him in the least and he won the final match against Andrew Jaoude with the score of 3-2 (7-11 / 12-10 / 7-11 / 11-5 / 11-6).
MTTK offers training opportunities for all ages to practice table tennis. One can either join in with the group training sessions that are structured by age and ability or else Rent-A-Table for leisure play with friends.
