Maltese international Brian Cini won the Malta Billiards and Snooker Association’s Ranking Snooker Shoot-Out at the Snooker Academy in Ħamrun on Sunday.
The tournament, with all proceeds from registration fees going to Istrina, culminated in a final between Cini and Arthur Cachia. While both players are currently part of the Premier Division, Cini took control of the game from the get-go and easily got enough points to be declared winner.
The MBSA showed its appreciation to the 49 participants which were part of the event which was all but predictable. Unlike any other snooker tournament, the shoot-out consists of only one frame with a maximum of ten minutes – the player with most points wins.
The association explained such a tournament is bound to present a number of surprises, especially because with quickfire rounds, players tend to make more mistakes and “everything is possible”.
The event was also livestreamed on the association’s socials.
