Gudja United are closing in on the signing of Brazilian striker Sergio Cruz Pereira, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The southerners are looking to bolster their offensive department following the departure of their leading scorer this season, Yuri Messias, who has opted to move to Bahrain.
Cruz Pereira has spent the majority of his career in Italy where he played for various clubs in the Lega Pro.
The 32-year-old has played among others with Campobasso, Catanzaro, Melfi, Ischia and Lumezzane.
Cruz Pereira also had a spell with Chievo Verona between 2016 and 2017.
Cruz Pereira is expected to put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season.
Gudja are hopeful of completing the transfer of Cruz Pereira in time for Saturday’s crucial Premier League match against Żejtun Corinthians.
