Hibernians have confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Gilmar, the Premier League club confirmed on Monday.
We are delighted to confirm the return of Brazilian midfielder Gilmar Ribeiro from Sliema Wanderers FC,” the Premier League side said in a statement.
“The 30-year-old is set for another spell at our club, having played for two seasons in the black and white shirt. In these two seasons, Gilmar played 46 matches and scored 21 goals. He also won 2 major honours, the BOV Premier League in season 2016/17 and the BOV Super Cup in 2015/16.
“We would like to welcome Gilmar back to the club and wish him the best of luck for the remaining part of the season.”
Earlier on Monday, the Times of Malta had reported that Gilmar’s transfer from Sliema Wanderers to Hibernians is back on after an offer from the Paolites for the Brazilian midfielder has convinced the Wanderers to enter negotiations.
Sliema Wanderers president Jeffrey Farrugia told the Times of Malta that the deal was back on after the veteran midfielder has also shown an interest in leaving the Wanderers and join the Paolites this month.
