Maltese clubs, lsland Karting Club and Karting Club Malta, have announced that they will be organising a national karting championship under the authorisation of the Malta Motorsport Federation.
The races are expected to take place at the La Reve Karting Track in Ħal Far. The tournament will be spread over five rounds, with the opening competition scheduled for February 27 and 28.
With the interest raised by the new track it is expected that the number of competitors will be substantial. Around 150 karting drivers with ages as young as four are practicing their sport at the new La Reve Track in Ħal Far every weekend.
Duncan Micallef, president of Malta Motorsport Federation, said that it is a huge satisfaction to witness the huge interest in karting and that for the first time in Malta, two clubs are working together to organise a National Championship together.
Micallef congratulated both clubs and all drivers.
