Swieqi United move alone into second place of the Women’s League after defeating Raiders Għargħur 3-1.
Meanwhile, struggling Mosta were denied a stunning win as a late goal by Kirkop United ended the game in a 1-1 stalemate whereas Birkirkara remained perfect as they eased past Mtarfa 6-0.
Late goals by Jade Schembri and Dorianne Theuma helped Swieqi cancel a one-goal deficit to earn three valuable points which now see them sit in second on 28 points, three ahead of Mġarr United.
Leanne Micallef scored her sixth goal for Raiders to put her side ahead after 12 minutes. Six minutes later, though, Theuma levelled terms as the first half ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Fifteen minutes from time, Schembri put Swieqi ahead before Theuma netted her ninth goal of the season to help the Oranges chalk up the win.
Meanwhile, a goal deep in stoppage time earned Kirkop a last-gasp point against Mosta. The Blues were inching closer towards their third win of the season after Leah Alice Ayres put them ahead before the break.
However, Mirea Ellul managed to snatch a point for Kirkop with a late goal as the Reds remain fourth on 16 points.
