Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam has undergone successful surgery on ruptured cruciate ligaments in his left knee, the Serie A club confirmed on Monday.
The 30-year-old Algerian international, who was out for two weeks in February with coronavirus, pulled up 22 minutes into Napoli’s 3-1 win over Bologna in Naples on Sunday.
“Ghoulam was operated on his left knee this afternoon for the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and the associated meniscal injury,” Napoli said.
“The intervention was perfectly successful.”
Ghoulam joined the club in 2014 from French side Saint Etienne but has suffered a series of knee problems, rupturing the cruciate ligament in his right knee in 2017 and fracturing a kneecap the following year.
