Gżira United have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to sign young defender Luke Tabone on a three-year contract.
Times of Malta had announced that Tabone had agreed to move to the Maroons ahead of the new campaign.
The 23-year-old defender has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Gozitan football and managed to become a key figure for Nadur Youngsters with whom he managed to win the title crown last season.
At the start of this season, Tabone had an opportunity to go the United Kingdom where he under went at trial at League One side Burton Albion where he had left a good impression.
Tabone returned to his club Nadur Youngsters and this season he helped the club to mount a serious title defence only for the GFA Division One championship to be declared null due to the Legal Notice that prohibited organised sport due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, the young centre back has the opportunity to make the next step in his career when he agreed terms to join Gżira United where he will hope to establish himself in the Maltese Premier League.
