Norman Darmanin Demajo named Youth FA president

Norman Darmanin Demajo has been elected as the new president on Youth Football Association president.

The former Malta Football Association president replaces Fr Hilary Tagliaferro who felt that the time was right for him to step aside.

Fr Hilary said that although the past two years have been very difficult, the Youth FA continued with its work despite the circumstance.

The former Youth FA chief thanked everyone who was involved in the governing body that the affiliated nurseries.

“I urge everyone to continue working hard and help the new administration to continue to promote youth football in Malta,” Fr Tagliaferro said.

“I wish the best of luck to new president Norman Darmanin Demajo and I am happy that he will continue on the work we have started.”

Joe Cassar has been reconfirmed as vice-president while the five delegates representing the clubs are Joe Baldacchino (Żabbar St Patrick), Jason Falzon (St Andrews), Nathan Mckay (Dingli Swallows), Simon Spiteri (Mtarfa) and Paul Vella (Mġarr).

On his part, Darmanin Demajo said that he was happy to replace Fr Hilary at the helm of the Youth FA.

“I feel very motivated to continue to strengthen what Fr Hilary started 39 years ago,” Darmanin Demajo said.

“I will work hard to ensure the Youth FA is accessible for everyone and in fact for the first time the association will have Joe Cassar working as a full time Chief Executive Officer, so that we strengthen our reach-out with the nurseries among others.

“In the coming days, the Youth FA Board will convene so that we can confirm the other positions on the committee and start working on our plans for the next four years.”
