New Valletta FC president announces plans to put club on solid foundations

Newly-elected Valletta FC president Alexander Fenech has vowed to put the club on a stronger foundation and make it self-sustainable after he replaced Victor Sciriha at the helm of the capital team during the Annual General Meeting held on Monday.

During the meeting, Valletta FC announced that Victor Sciriha stepped down from his job after 13 years at the helm and Fenech has been confirmed as the new club president.

In a statement, Valletta FC said that the newly-elected president has set his sights on to strengthen the organisation of the club at various levels.

“Valletta Football Club during its Annual General Meeting held on Monday, June 14, elected Mr. Alexander Fenech as its new President,” the club said in a statement.

“Mr. Fenech thanked Mr. Victor Sciriha, the outgoing president, for his many years of relentless work, support, energy and passion, which led the club to win everything that local football offers (most notably 7 Leagues; 3 FA Trophies; 7 Super Cups and the National League Anniversary Cup) over a period of 14 years (since June 2007).

“Mr Fenech announced that as the newly elected president his first move will be to strengthen the organization of the Club at various levels and in various segments in order to ensure that the club has a strong and sustainable future.

“Mr Fenech laid out his plans concerning the long-term financing of the Club, by announcing the strategic partnership with the VBL Group for the commercialization of its various assets.

“The VBL Group is known as the Valletta real estate specialists, a firm with the high level of sensitivity towards Valletta’s built heritage, its culture, and its community.”
