Reginald Alidor became the latest overseas player to part ways with Birkirkara FC after the Premier League club announced that his contract was not renewed.
In a statement, Birkirkara FC said that Alidor was one of four foreign players who were on the books of the club last season that was not reconfirmed for the 2021-22 season.
“Birkirkara FC would like to confirm that Alessandro Guarnore, Ciao Prado, Alex Paixao and Reginald Alidor will not be part of the squad for the coming season,” the club said in a statement.
“We thank them for their service and wish them luck in their new adventures.
The club is working tirelessly to make further reinforcements to strengthen our team while allowing academy products the chance to challenge for a first-team spot.”
Alidor joined Birkirkara in September last year and the French defensive midfielder went on to make 13 appearances with the club.
Meanwhile, the other three overseas players that were released by Birkirkara have already settled their futures.
In fact, goalkeeper Alessandro Guarnone and Brazilian winger Caio Prado have both agreed terms to join Valletta FC.
On the other hand, Alex Paixao has agreed to rejoin his former club Balzan FC.
