Stefan Sultana has been appointed as the new Head Coach for Youth Development at Ħamrun Spartans Elite Academy, the Premier League club announced.
Sultana has been working at the Spartans Academy for almost 20 years now and will now be responsible for the competitive academy squads from the U-15 to the U-20s.
Apart from his work with the Spartans academy, Sultana is also involved with the Spartans’ first-team as he is the assistant of head coach Mark Buttigieg. Last season, Buttigieg and Sultana guided the Spartans to their first Premier League title after an absence of 30 years.
“The all time BOV Premier League Highest top scorer Stefan Sultana extends his stay with the Spartans, as he is appointed the new Head Coach for Youth Development responsible for the competitive academy squads from the under 15’s to the under 20’s,” the Ħamrun Spartans Elite Academy said in a statement.
“Mr Stefan Sultana started his footballing career back in 1983 with the Spartans where he went on to make a total of 328 games with the senior team, before being given the responsibility as a Head Coach of our academy back in the season 2002/2003, a role he held for the last 19 years.
“Throughout the years Mr Sultana managed to obtain the highest certificate related to youth coaching in Europe the UEFA Elite Youth A.
“The Spartans ex-talisman is also serving his second season as the senior’s Assistant Coach, having won the Premier League title in his first Season as an assistant coach in the 2020/2021 campaign, something he had already done as a player.
“Our new YDHC emphasized that his goal is to help more youngsters to find their place with the Spartans senior team.”
