Veteran goalkeeper Manwel Bartolo has completed his move to Valletta FC, the Premier League side have confirmed.
Bartolo, who left champions Ħamrun Spartans this summer following the arrival of Malta goalkeeper Henry Bonello, was initially tipped to be heading to his former club San Ġwann.
However, the deal failed to materialise and Valletta FC entered the race to secure the services of the experienced goalkeeper and an agreement was finally reached this week.
In fact, Bartolo has already attended his first training sessions under the charge of coach Jose Antonio Cardoso Mendes.
Bartolo rubberstamped his move to Valletta on Sunday when he put pen to paper on a one-year contract.
The arrival of Bartolo at Valletta FC will give the Citizens an added option in the goalkeeper department as coach Cardoso Mendes has the chance to field a Maltese goalkeeper in goal and have an added option of fielding another overseas player in another position on the pitch.
Last season, Bartolo enjoyed an excellent season as he skippered Ħamrun Spartans to the Premier League title and was named as the Best goalkeeper in the MFPA Awards.
