Malta international Samuel Deguara has joined the Taipei Fubon Braves, the club announced on Friday.
Deguara, who is no stranger to Asian basketball is set to join his fourth Asean League team in his career after stints with the Philippines Fire, Hong Kong’s Oriental Dragon Lions, and Thailand’s Mono Vampire.
Speaking to the club, the Malta centre echoed his never-changing ambition of being the best he can be.
“I am very excited to join the Warriors soon, and I look forward to meeting the big family of Fubon again. My goal is to improve every year and help the team win in the PLG championship!”
Deguara spent last season with Japanese B League Division three side Tokyo Excellence. This made him the first-ever Maltese player to ever play in Japan.
With the Excellence, which have moved to Yokohama for the new season, Deguara achieved five-star numbers both on offence and defence.
He was also set to join the Malta national team for this summer’s FIBA Small Countries Games. However, due to complications, he was forced to drop out at the last second as Malta went on to grab Bronze in the tournament.
