Rachel Cuschieri’s Lazio Women have dismissed Carolina Morace from the coaching post after their poor start to their Serie A Femminile campaign.
The news comes after Lazio’s fifth straight defeat after falling to a 3-0 loss to Sassuolo, on Sunday.
Lazio, who clinched Serie A promotion for the first time in eight seasons last year, have conceded 20 goals and scored just three in the opening five league games.
Malta women’s international Cuschieri, who is playing her second consecutive season at Lazio, was one of the few players that were kept from last year and has been involved in all top-flight matches this season so far.
Morace and her technical staff took over halfway last season and steered the club to top spot, winning the Serie B and clinching promotion to Serie A.
Massimiliano Catini has now been appointed as new Lazio coach. He has been promoted to head coach of the team after his experience at the helm of the U-17’s women’s team.
Previously, Catini worked with Inter men’s youth team and during the 2012/2013 season was in Andrea Stramaccioni’s technical staff with the senior squad.
