Another season of basketball is here, and Maltese basketball players abroad have or will be looking to start their commitments, mostly at new clubs. The Times of Malta Sportsdesk looks at the Maltese professionals plying their trade overseas in another segment in the ‘Maltese Abroad’ series.

Malta forward Aaron Falzon added another double-digit game to his repertoire last weekend as he solidifies his case for the regular starter position at the Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions.
Falzon has been in the starting five since joining the BSL team and was in form on Saturday as he scored 16 points in an 87-80 win over the Raiffeisen Flyers Catfish.
The Lions face Swans Gmunden next on October 31st as the team currently stands in fourth place of the league on a win and a loss so far.
ITALY
Aaron’s brother Tevin put up a similar performance, also on Saturday, as he scored 12 points for Vigor Basket Matelica in the Italian Serie C Gold. This was in spite of the team losing with a mere point in a 59-58 loss to Virtus Assisi.
The side will be looking to get back to winning ways this Saturday as they face Sicoma Valdiceppo.
A step higher in Serie B Group D, Malta Centre Kurt Cassar also scored 12 points, adding seven rebounds in 26 minutes of play for Ruvo di Puglia as the team won 81-77 against Moncada Energy Agrigento.
The team, currently fourth in the standings, plays Pallacanestro Viola Reggio Calabria next on Sunday.
UK
To top off a double-digit weekend for the Maltese abroad, Sasha Lecuyer had a productive outing with the Loughborough Riders on Saturday as the side blew out the Bristol Academy Flyers 60-43.
The Malta guard scored 10, adding six rebounds and six assists in 30 minutes of play.
The side plays their next game on Saturday as they face Team Solent Kestrels.
