Nadur Youngsters and SK Victoria Wanderers found little difficult to progress to the next stage of the Knock Out and the GFA Cup respectively last weekend.
Top-flight side SK Victoria Wanderers earned qualification to the quarter finals of the GFA Cup competition with a 6-2 win over second division side Għarb Rangers.
On the other hand, Nadur Youngsters brushed aside Oratory Youths to book their place into the KO semi-finals.
The Wanderers dominated the match against Għarb Rangers despite playing without their regular goalkeeper and their most prolific striker and raced to a convincing victory.
Emerson Zammit opened the score for the Citizens after 7 minutes before Fabricio Rozkiewicz made it 2-0 five minutes from the break. A minute later, Sam Harland all but wrapped up his team’s qualification with a third goal.
The Wanderers added three more goals after the break through Gabriel Cardona (52), Harland (55) and Rozkiewicz (74).
During the final stages, the Wanderers took their foot of their pedal and Għarb took advantage by pulling two goals back through substitute Dylan Paul Rapa (79, 84).
The match between Nadur Youngsters and Oratory Youths was the last encounter from the quarter-final stage of the GFA Knock Out.
Nadur stayed in the running for all major honours in Gozitan football when they crushed Oratory Youths 3-0.
Nadur made sure of the win by scoring three goals during the first period and then administered their advantage on the restart.
The Youngsters went ahead after six minutes of play, when Jordi Parnis tapped the ball home from close in.
Four minutes later, the Youngsters were awarded a penalty for a foul by Jurgen Attard on Gennaro Hili and Marcelo Barbosa made no mistake from the spot.
Nadur were awarded a second penalty on 38 minutes for a foul by Samuel Azzopardi on Barbosa and Judivan kept his cool to drill the ball into the net.
Division Two
Żebbuġ Rovers confirmed their excellent run of form with a 5-1 win over St Lawrence Spurs to go three points clear at the top of the Division Two standings.
The Rovers took the lead after 14 minutes through Matias Camilleri Psaila.
Żebbuġ were awarded two penalties in quick succession but their Colombian forward Daniel Pineros saw his first effort saved by the St Lawrence goalkeeper and then the same player concluded wide.
But the Colombian made up for these misses when grabbing a brace on 21 and 37 minutes to put Żebbuġ three goals up. The Spurs pulled one back three minutes from the break through Alen Haska.
But after the break, Żebbuġ sealed the win by adding two more goals through an Eric Gauci penalty on 51 minutes and Joseph Bonnici five minutes from time.
