The BOV Premier League will resume on January 17 with the derby between Valletta and Floriana and the clash between Ħamrun Spartans and Mosta as the Malta Football Association issued the new set of fixtures.
The Malta FA last week delayed the restart of all national league competitions until at least the week starting January 17 due to the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in football clubs in Malta and Gozo.
Now the local governing body has announced the fixtures for the Premier League that will be played this month.
The top-flight championship will resume on January 17 when Mosta take on Ħamrun Spartans at the Hibs Stadium while Floriana face Valletta at the National Stadium. Both matches kick off at 7pm.
On Tuesday, January 18, Sliema Wanderers will take on Gżira United at 5pm at the Centenary Stadium while Hibernians face Sirens at the Tony Bezzina, with kick-off set at 7pm.
The last two matches of the first matchday of 2022 will be played on Wednesday, January 19 when Sta Lucia face Gudja United at the Centenary Stadium at 5pm, followed by the match between Birkirkara and Balzan at 9pm.
The FA Trophy Last 32 matches will not be played on the weekend January 22 and 23 and has now been put back to February 8-10.
In their place, the Malta FA has decided to hold Match Day 15.
In fact on Saturday, January 22, Balzan face Ħamrun Spartans at the Tony Bezzina Stadium at 2pm followed by the match between Gudja United and Sliema Wanderers at 6pm. On the same day, Mosta will face Hibernians at the National Stadium at 4pm.
On Sunday, January 23 will see two matches at the National Stadium, with Gżira United facing Valletta at 2pm followed by the clash between Floriana and Birkirkara at 6pm. Sirens will face Sta Lucia on the same day at the Tony Bezzina Stadium at 4pm.
Meanwhile, the MFA also announced that the two Premier League matches that were postponed last month due to COVID-19 will be played on January 26.
Sliema Wanderers will face Balzan at the Tony Bezzina Stadium at 7pm while Ħamrun Spartans will take on Birkirkara at the National Stadium at the same time.
