Swieqi United women’s have bolstered their offensive department with another foreign recruitment as they announce the signing of 22-year-old American forward Alexis Espitia.
Espitia, assisted by Clava Sport Consult, was announced by the Oranges just before Tuesday’s league game against Kirkop United which she started as a substitute.
This will be Espitia’s first spell in European football having played football at the Sonoma State University. With the Sonoma Seawolves, Espitia made a name for herself in particular during the 2019 season when she scored 9 goals and grabbed two assists in 18 games. Prior to that, she had scored 11 goals and recorded 4 assists in 40 games with the same team.
Espitia follows Brazilian striker Fernanda Peinado who also joined Swieqi in January.
