Malta international Teddy Teuma was denied a controversial goal as Royal Union St Gilloise could only claim a point after their 1-1 draw against KV Oostende in the Belgium’s Jupiler League.
🤔 ¡Hay polémica! ¿Entró ese balón? Para el árbitro y el VAR, no.

With Union trailing by one goal on the hour mark, Teuma had an effort which was cleared away by an opponent with the match official waving the protests away of the Union players who deemed the ball had cleared the line.
Replay footages from different angles seem to justify Union’s protests, including Teuma’s who was visibly frustrated for this decision even after the game via his Twitter profile.

In Belgium’s top-flight there is no goal-line technology system. Instead, they rely on the new VAR technology. However, according to Belgian reports, the 3D line could not be drawn to determine whether this was a goal or not and therefore the referee stood by the assistant referee’s decision of not assigning Union the equaliser.
The Malta international, captain of the side, played a full game as Union managed to negotiate a late draw to move to 71 points with three games left to end the regular season.
A win against KV Oostende would have ensured Union European football next season, at least a second preliminary round appearance in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
