Balzan FC have snapped up the services of young attacking midfielder Aidan Friggieri, the Times of Malta can reveal.
The 24-year-old right winger was on the books of Gudja United last season, but his contract expired at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
It looked as though that Friggieri was set to join Ħamrun Spartans this summer.
In fact, the player had been close to agree terms with the Spartans but the transfer failed to materialise.
It was here that Balzan immediately entered the race to sign Friggieri and a deal was agreed between all parties.
The capture of Friggieri will certainly be seen as a major coup for Balzan who are looking to bounce back from what was a disappointing 2021-22 campaign which saw the team almost lose their top-flight status.
In fact, it was only on the final day of the season that Balzan managed to secure their top-flight status after a 1-0 win over Sliema Wanderers.
During his career, Friggieri came through the youth ranks of Sliema Wanderers before he joined Luxol St Andrews.
In 2019, he joined Gudja United with whom last season he made 18 appearances and scored three goals which helped the team to secure an historic berth in the Top Six group at the expense of more-quoted clubs such as Valletta, Sirens and Mosta.
