Watch: Ħamrun Spartans sign Serbian defender Ognjen Bjelicic, striker Elvis

Ħamrun Spartans’ transfer activity continued this weekend when they reached an agreement to sign Serbian defender Ognjen Bjelicic and Congolese forward Elvis Elvis Sukisa Mashike.

The 24-year-old Bjelicic had been in talks with the Spartans in the past few days and an agreement has finally been reached that will see the player put pen to paper on a contract that will see him start donning the colours of the club as from the start of the 2022-23 season.

Bjelicic is expected to arrive in Malta in the coming days and is due to report for pre-season training with coach Branko Nisevic as the Reds continue to step up their preparations for their UEFA Conference League commitments against Armenia’s Alashskert.

Bjelicic arrives in Malta with an eye-catching CV as the player, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, has come through the youth ranks of Red Star Belgrade and Rad.

In 2016, Bjelicic headed to the Czech Republic where played for Viktoria Plzen B before returning to his country to play for Sindjelic Bg.

In 2019 he joined Serbian top-flight side FK Indija before heading to Radnicki Nis in January 2020.

On the other hand, the arrival of Elvis sees the Spartans finally securing the services of a striker that will hopefully provide them with goals this season.

The Congolese forward has spent the majority of his career plying his trade in Slovakia where he was on the books of Slovan Galanta, MFK Zvolen before finally making the big breakthrough when he joined top side Slovan Liberec.

In the summer of 2021 he headed to Serbia where he joined FK Senica for the first part of the season before he returned to MSK Zilina last March.

Bjelicic is the latest overseas capture for the Spartans who earlier this week had secured the services of Croatian midfielder Roko Prsa.

The club have also wrapped up deals for Brazilian defender Rodrigo Callegari and winger Jonny.
