Former Malta international defender Andrei Agius has extended his contract at Hibernians to another year before he hangs up his boots for good.
Agius, 35, has been a leading figure at the Paolites since joining in September 2014. With Hibernians, Agius won three domestic championships including last season’s 2021/2022 title.
During last season, Agius played 35 games in all competitions and scored one goal – the winner in the away game at Riga in the Europa Conference League.
“Time to finish what I started 7 years ago before stepping on the other side,” Agius said on his social media channels.
“Will give my all as always to honour these colours and bring more silverware to our club.
Would like to thank president Ranier Bezzina and team manager Jesmond Abela for fulfilling my wish to end my playing career at this unique club. One last dance it is.”
