Ħamrun Spartans will be Malta’s fifth opponent in the history of Partizan Belgrade in European competitions when the two teams will rub shoulders in this Thursday’s UEFA Europa Conference League match.
The Serbian giants, who won the domestic title 27 times, faced Rabat Ajax, Hibernians, Sliema Wanderers and Valletta in previous years.
Against Ħamrun, it will be the first matchup against a Maltese representative in the Europa Conference League.
Partizan met Valletta in the Champions League while the other three ties were all in the old UEFA Cup competition.
In eight matches, Partizan won seven of them and lost only once – a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sliema Wanderers in 2000.
PARTIZAN BELGRADE’S RECORD VS MALTESE OPPONENTS:
1984/1985 UEFA Cup first round – Partizan Belgrade vs Rabat Ajax = 2-0, 2-0 (4-0 aggregate).
1990/1991 UEFA Cup first round – Partizan Belgrade vs Hibernians = 2-0, 3-0 (5-0 aggregate).
