Union Saint-Gilloise turn down Standard Liege’s €1.5m bid for Teddy Teuma

Union Saint-Gilloise has turned down a bid from fellow Belgian side Standard Liege for Malta international midfielder Teddy Teuma, reports said on Tuesday.

RMC sport reported that Standard Liege had tabled a €1.5 million bid for the Malta international midfielder but Union Saint-Gilloise quickly turned it down.

In fact, Union Saint-Gilloise have declared that Teddy Teuma was a valuable member of the team and were not ready to part ways with their captain.

Standard Liege have been showing interest in Teuma for several weeks now and it remains to be seen whether they will come back for another offer for the Malta international before the transfer window shuts in Belgium on September 6.

Teuma has been a key figure in Union Saint-Gilloise as the 28-year-old has played a key role not only in his team’s promotion to the Belgian top-flight but also was one of the top performers for his team’s astonishing first campaign in the top flight.

In fact, last season Teuma skippered the team to a strong title challenge which saw the team only forfeit the title crown to Bruges in the final weeks of the season.

This summer, Teuma has already started brightly for Union Saint-Gilloise and managed to put his name on the scoresheet in his team’s historic win over Glasgow Rangers in the Champions League qualifiers.

Union Saint-Gilloise fails Standard for Teddy Teuma

Union Saint Gilloise, placed in the Union Berlin, Malmö and Braga group for the next edition of the Europa League, will not give up its captain. Standard de Liège, which had checked it as a priority, offered 1.5 million to the Belgian club but the latter refused declaring Teddy Teuma, under contract until 2024, untransferable.
