His assist and goal propelled Royal Union St Gilloise to their second straight victory in the UEFA Europa League.
For Teddy Teuma, the 3-2 win over Sweden’s Malmo is another step towards the next round of the qualifications.
Nonetheless, the Malta international has urged his team mates not to rest on their laurels as they will now head into a tricky back-to-back games against Braga of Portugal, runners of the Europa League in the the 2010/2011 season.
“There are still four games left, with now two games in a row against Braga,” Teuma said in an interview after the game.
“It’s still very difficult. Above all, you need to have fun and make sure you don’t regret anything.
To be honest, I did not believe in a perfect record of six wins from six games. I would have been satisfied even with just one home win.”
Despite Teuma’s early doubts, Union have proved they are no pushovers in their first European appearance since the 1964/1965 season.
They defeated Union Berlin away from 1-0 in their opening game before their Malmo encounter, on Thursday.
“We deserved our wins, we did not steal anything,”Teuma explained.
“We have taken a small step towards the next round, but we must not think about qualification yet. Everything can go south quickly in these four matches.”
Teuma’s approach for Union is clear – stay focus and sharp, while trying to gain as many points as possible.
“It is up to use to prove every time that we deserve our place in this competition and that we are not here by chance,” Teuma pointed out.
