MOU aimed at helping the proper development of Maltese football
The Malta FA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its Spanish counterpart, the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol (RFEF), that enables both parties to share their experiences in different fields and in so doing strengthen the good relations that already exist between the two federations.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Malta Football Association signed this agreement on Saturday in Frankfurt, in the framework prior to the draw for the qualifying phase for the 2024 European Championship held on Sunday.
Luis Rubiales, president of the RFEF, has promised to work side by side with Bjorn Vassallo, his MFA counterpart, to intensify the ties between the two associations and help in every way possible for the proper development of Maltese football.
With this agreement, a mutual benefit will be sought for the two federations, maintaining fluid contact and sharing information about the work in different areas that go beyond sports.
Work will be done on the training of coaches with courses, seminars and conferences and there will be an active exchange of knowledge about the physical work of referees and their knowledge.
The agreement also includes joint work in the development of women’s football, with friendly matches and concentrations, as well as in football for lower categories.
Information will be exchanged on the knowledge of sports sciences, the work of medical services and the way of proceeding of departments such as Legal, Marketing or Communication.
The agreement has a duration of one year, but there is an option of a further two years should both parties are willing to extend.
Malta FA president Bjorn Vassallo described this agreement as a show of trust in the work being done by the Malta FA.
“Our steps forward and the way we work is being noted by others, including much bigger federations like Spain, who have a lot to offer us and from whom we can benefit. From our side we will still contribute by always being open to share our experience as a proactive player in European football,” he said.
