Tricky draw for Man. United, Juventus in Europa League quarters

Teuma’s Saint-Gilloise play Bayer Leverkusen

Manchester United and Juventus were handed a tough-looking draw for the quarter-finals of the Europa League as the English side take on Sevilla while the former Italian champions take on Sporting Lisbon.

Malta international midfielder Teddy Teuma will lead his Union Saint-Gilloise against Bayer Leverkusen while Jose Mourinho’s Roma head to the Netherlands to face Feyenoord.

For Manchester United, this will be the third successive Europa League tie against Spanish opposition.

In fact, Eric Ten Haag’s team have already eliminated Barcelona in the Last 32 before knocking out Real Betis in the Last 16.

In Sevilla, Manchester United are facing one of the most successful teams in the competition, lifting the trophy a record six times.

The Spanish side are struggling for form in the La Liga and the Europa League is their last opportunity of silverware this season.

Juventus have a tough route to the semi-finals of the competition as they face Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.

The Portugal club have been one of the dark horses in the competition and in the previous round, they managed to pick up the scalp of English Premier League leaders Arsenal after a penalty shoot-out.

Still, Juventus, who knocked out Freiburg in the previous round, will fancy their hopes of going all the way in this season’s competition following the return from injury to some key players such as Federico Chiesa.

Should both Manchester United and Juventus progress, they will set up a tantalising semi-final showdown against each other.

Elsewhere, Teuma’s Royal Saint-Gilloise will be heading back to Germany to face Bayer Leverkusen.

In the previous round, the Malta international scored one of the goals that steered his team past Union Berlin in the second leg in Belgium.

In the other fixture, Roma, who eliminated Real Sociedad in the previous round, will start favouries against Feyenoord, of the Netherlands.
