Third signing for Depiro this summer
Former Mellieha Libertas player Nenad Bukva has switched sides to join Depiro BC, the Mtarfa club announced on Thursday.
Bukva becomes the side’s third new signing in a summer where Depiro have made numerous changes to both the men and women’s teams and will be bringing with him a wealth of experience having been a vital cog in the Libertas machine for the past two years.
Having been brought from Gzira Athleta to Libertas by Adrian Mifsud in 2021, the Serbian forward was part of the squad which shot up to their first final in the club’s history, and eventually became a title contender, and Louis Borg Cup winner, the following season under Christian Narciso.
Now he joins compatriots Nikola Bozovic and Bogdan Mrkojevic who have both been acquired by coach Ruben Baldacchino’s side for the coming season.
“Nenad (Bukva) needs no introduction as he has shown his potential in the past seasons. He is a strong, experienced player that will bring more depth and size to our team. He will surely give us an added boost to reach our goals this season” Baldacchino said in a statement by the club.
Another commonality with Bozovic will be the fact that both players represented Malta in this year’s Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in the 3×3 basketball event together with Mellieha’s Vukasin Jandric, and Depiro Division Two side player Chad Patos.
