Former Malta U-19’s goalkeeper was on the books of Hibernians
Italian football will welcome another Maltese player as Raisa Costantino will be embarking in Serie C in her first foreign spell.
The young Maltese goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with SPD Tharros in Italy’s third-tier.
SPD Tharros, based in Sardegna, will be competing in the Serie C after their dominating their Eccellenza championship last season.
She is expected to join the team’s pre-season commitments in August with the Serie C campaign set to start on September. Meanwhile, the Italian Cup for Serie C teams will launch in December.
Costantino, 18, spent last season on the books of Hibernians with whom she placed fourth in the seven-team Assikura Women’s League and reached the domestic cup final.
Previously, she was at Kirkop United with whom she made her senior debut in 2020.
At international level, Costantino represented Malta in the U-19’s European Championship qualifications and most recently was part of the senior training camp under the guidance of coach Manuela Tesse.
