Thomas Melilo scores last-gasp goal to snatch a point for Maltese side
A late goal by Thomas Melilo helped Malta salvage a point in their final U-17’s European qualifications against North Macedonia.
Led by coach Francesco Macri, the Maltese side was at the back of two straight defeats against Spain (0-7) and Slovakia (0-1) and were looking to conclude their appointments on a positive note.
North Macedonia forged ahead through Edin Etoski in the first half and were heading to their first win this group before Melilo’s leveller earned a point for the hosts.
As expected, Spain topped the group with three comfortable victories to advance to the next round of this competition.
