Red Devils to hold second training camp on the Maltese islands
Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven are set to meet on our shores during a friendly match come January.
The two European sides are planning a short training camp in Malta during their winter break with the English side expected to make a five-day stay between January 3 and 8.
A return for the Red Devils to Malta comes following a friendly against Birkirkara women last January. The team that brought with it the likes of England international Alex Russo, is said to be heading back to the Island after expressing their delight with the local facilities and kind welcome they had received last year.
This camp would help Marc Skinner’s side to prepare for their following commitments which will see them face Chelsea in the Women’s Super League on January 21 before taking on rivals Manchester City in the League Cup, three days later.
PSV, on their part, will be following their male counterparts who had already travelled to Malta for a short break back in 2016.
The Dutch side is currently sixth in the top-flight and are Rachel Cuschieri’s former club with the Malta international being on their books during the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 campaigns.
Following this camp, PSV’s first commitment will be an away league game at SC Telstar on January 20.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether local champions Birkirkara will be involved again after facing Manchester United back in January in front of a record crowd for a women’s game in Malta at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
The Stripes have a league fixture on January 4, therefore limiting their availability during the time Manchester United will be on the islands.
