Birkirkara release defender Pajovic and left back Mariani

Jovan Pajovic (left) and Daniele Mariani are no longer on the books of Birkirkara.

Birkirkara FC have announced that they have parted ways with Montenegrin defender Jovan Pajovic and Italian midfielder Daniele Mariani.

Both Pajovic and Mariani arrived at the club at the start of the 2023-24 season but the club have now decided to go separate ways and reached an agreement with both players to rescind their contract.

“Birkirkara FC formally announces that it has successfully concluded negotiations with players Jovan Pajovic and Daniele Mariani for the amicable termination of their respective employment contracts,” the Premier League club said in a statement.

“The club expresses its gratitude to both players for their services and professionalism in reaching a mutual agreement for the termination of their contracts.

“We extend our best wishes to both players for their future endeavours.”

Pajovic, who joined the Stripes last July, was a regular member of the first-team squad and has made 10 appearances with the Stripes this season.

On the other hand, Mariani, a 22-year-old left-back, also made eight appearances for Birkirkara this season.

It is understood that Birkirkara are currently scouring the market to find adequate replacements for both players as they look to step up their push for a place in European football next season.
