Malta international Tevin Falzon has joined Spanish outfit Fundación Globalcaja La Roda, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
In an evening announcement, the LEB Plata club showcased their signing of Falzon, saying they had roped in a ‘luxury reinforcement’ with a great outside shot for their roster as the Albacete side.
Speaking to the club’s socials, Falzon showed his enthusiasm, highlighting his desire to win games.
“I’m excited to be here in La Roda, to help us win a lot more games throughout the rest of the season,” Falzon said.
“I bring shooting, scoring, defence and great team effort and energy. I look forward to be a part of this team as we continue in the season and I look forward to winning lots of games.”
The Malta forward was one of the major players for the national team throughout last June’s Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE 2023) under former coach Alan Walls but had struggled to secure a club contract over the summer in spite of his performance, opting to head back to the US for further physical preparation. However, this is now history as the former Palestrina and Sutor Basket Montegranaro player returns to Spain, and more importantly the LEB Plata.
Falzon had played in the division back in 2017 during his stint at Ametx Zornotza. With him, Zornotza reached the playoff finals of the league, before losing out to Valladolid. Now he returns to join a La Roda side in need of wins. The team led by coach Antonio Javier Moya Bueno has already played 16 games this season, winning six of their outings as they stand in the 11th position of the standings.
In a statement, the club said Falzon could debut in the provincial derby against CB Almansa this weekend.
Speaking to La Tribuna de Albacete, coach Moya Beuno called him an ‘important reinforcement’ for his team.
“He is an experienced player, very physical, he will not have adaptation problems and will be an important reinforcement in the four position,” the La Roda coach said.
“Falzon stands out for his outside shot and face play, and he will help us a lot in defence since he can do it in different positions.”
