Maltese player was partnered by Greece’s Despina Papamichail.
Francesca Curmi and Despina Papamichail triumphed in the doubles at the Alaminos-Lanarca tournament, on Saturday.
The Maltese and Greek tennis players won by two sets – 6-3, 6-2 – in a little less than 90 minutes against Leonie Kung of Switzerland and United Kingdom’s Eliz Maloney.
This is the second doubles tournament victory for Curmi which follows her 2022 success in Vigo when she partnered fellow Maltese player Elaine Genovese.
The winning pair advanced to the final after beating the duo formed by Germany’s Ella Seidel and Ksenia Zaytseva of Russia 6-1, 6-4.
They had previously eliminated China’s Xuanyu Chen and home player Lygia Christodoulou 6-1, 6-1.
As it stands, Curmi currently sits 311th in the WTA rankings with 224 points.
Her Greek partner is in the 260th position while Saturday’s opponents were in 334th – Kung and 884th – Maloney.
