Porto’s premises were raided as part of an investigation into the alleged illegal sale of tickets for the football club’s matches, Portuguese police confirmed Monday.
Thirteen people were charged in connection with the investigation, with some 4,000 tickets seized, along with 44,000 euros ($47,000), computers and documents.
The Portuguese police are probing the existence of a network suspected of distributing and selling tickets illegally, involving club employees and members of a supporters’ group.
Porto confirmed the searches which were carried out on Sunday, notably in a shop at their Do Dragao stadium, and pledged to cooperate with investigators in the operation named ‘Golden Ticket’ by police.
Porto are currently third in the Portuguese league table, with the title clinched by Sporting Lisbon last week. They will face Sporting in the Portuguese cup final on Sunday May 26.
Former Porto, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas was elected president of the club in April.
