A record of 40 nations will be represented in this Saturday’s high-profile EAP Malta International Athletics Meeting, at the Marsa track.
Saturday’s competition, launched by Pembroke Athleta Athletics & Triathlon in collaboration with Events for Athletics Promotion (EAP), will be the fifth held in Marsa – the second under the auspices of World Athletics.
As a matter of fact, Saturday’s meet forms part of the World Athletics Challenge Tour (Category D) which means that the athletes, including local ones, can obtain international ranking points.
This edition will see the participation of over 260 athletes and coaches – a record, including more than 120 Maltese athletes who will be vying for podium as they race against competitors from Africa, Asia, Americas and Australia.

Racing for Malta will be Beppe Grillo, at the back end of a spectacular weekend in Turkey where he recorded a new national record in 100m at 10.23 (+0.9).
Some notable names that will participate in Saturday are France’s Aurel Manga – 110mH finalist in Tokyo 2020, Italy’s Andrea Dallavalle – Triple Jump silver medalist at the 2022 European Championships and Kenya’s Mark Odhiambo who is a 100m Finalist at the African Championships and three-times national champion, boasting a personal best of 10.05.
Other important athletes that will feature in Saturday’s meet are Serbia’s Anja Lukic, six-time national champion, Ireland’s Ciara Neville – national champion and Puerto Rico’s Alysbeth Felix – a one-time national champion as well.
Next Saturday’s EAP Malta International meet will be composed of nine ‘Events’ for men, seven for women, and eight ‘Events’ for U-16’s girls and boys.
The event will be free of charge for spectators.
