Ħamrun Spartans are set to bring in a new forward in their squad as they agreed terms to sign Brazilian striker Vitor Hugo Manarin Leite da Silva, aka Vitao, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The Spartans have been working very hard to bring in a prolific no. 9 striker and after analysing their options they opted to offer their contract to Manarin.
The towering Brazilian forward has agreed personal terms with the Spartans and on Tuesday evening he attended his first training session with the Reds, who have kicked off their pre-season preparations under the charge of Alessandro Zinnari.
Vitao, the 25-year-old forward, has spent much of his career in Brazil where he was on the books of Rio Claro and Chapecoense while also having spells at Matonense and Rio Branco.
This year, Vitao was on the books of Treze and Aguia but now he has decided to try his luck in Europe and move to the Malta champions.
Vitao is the second Brazilian player to join the Spartans this summer after the Reds had also roped in defender Mayron.
The ten-time Malta champions have also brought at the club three former Sta Lucia players, namely goalkeeper Francisco Celio, defender Mattias Ellul, and midfielder Daniel Letherby.
Vitao is unlikely to be the Spartans’ last signing as the Reds still hope to add two wingers and another forward to their squad.
Ħamrun Spartans are currently preparing for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers and will discover their opponents in next Tuesday’s draw in Nyon.
